I celebrate this 50th anniversary of Earth Day with deep grief, reverence and optimism. Fifty years ago, there was such promise of cutting back human consumption of Earth’s resources, of curbing fossil fuel emissions and for environmental justice…but human behavior didn’t change. The planet is heating up. The ice sheets are melting. The oceans are dying. Then 2020 arrived and everything changed, but not as we had expected! We have finally reached the tipping point of life out of balance and what the Hopi call “Koyaanisqatsi”. Nature has arisen like the wrath of Kali and released a deadly pestilence. Now the world and its economy have been quarantined until we can figure a way out of this via a vaccine, behavior change or spontaneous immunity…or all three. I do not grieve the lockdown and isolation, though inconvenient to my physical activities. I grieve the path that got us here, such […]
Akashic Medicine — Energy Healing for the Information Age
What a thrilling and perplexing time to be alive—enmeshed within the dynamic high tech-information age! There is so much material being revealed and downloaded from cloud-based systems that it’s challenging to discern what is valid and what isn’t, yet discernment is what’s called for. The Akashic or Unity Field is like a cosmic internet or infinite cloud where past-present-future knowledge is stored and can be accessed through intention or prayer. How cool is that? What’s called for in this universal, non-linear spectrum are succinct questions and a reliable reader/interpreter to impart images and insights that are relevant to the questioner. Many of us are questioning consensus reality, what we observe and read, and possibly all that we’ve been taught to believe. It can feel like the known world has been turned inside out and we are just awakening from a long, foggy slumber. This can feel destabilizing to those who […]
Arisal of the Liberated Spirit
According to my Akashic Records, the United States of America is going through the biggest upheaval since the Civil War. This includes social and political as well as geological turmoil. We’re experiencing a crisis of the very soul of America and who we are as a people. That soul could be viewed through the symbol of “Lady Liberty,” our feminine aspect, whose power and grace we have mistreated and ignored. There is now a strong emphasis to remember and honor this “Mother of Exiles,” the emblematic goddess who was to carry the light of freedom for all people and for our blessed land. Seeds for a more just and equitable world that were planted in the sixties—civil rights, gender and economic equality, environmental protection—are now bearing fruit as paradoxically seen through its opposites. Unresolved issues of America’s past are destined to repeat themselves and can manifest as illness, war, social […]
Falling Into Alignment
Dear Friends, I hope this finds you healthy and feeling purposeful this fall. It’s been an unsettling summer for many due to personal, climatic, geophysical or sociopolitical disturbances. Many have been left feeling overwhelmed, disconnected and in deep grief. May our hearts and hands go out to those in need. Are things falling apart or falling into place? As Buddhist nun, Pema Chodron reminds us, things fall apart and come back together, fall apart and come back together again. May this be that time of coming together! Now that fall has arrived, this gentle season calls for rest, realignment and reconnection to our vital life force, our joy and our intentions. Fall is a time of turning inward and letting go of what no longer serves us. Replenishing our beloved body and spirit gives us the strength and inspiration to create and be of service to others. Know that I am here to assist and support you on your healing journey, be it stress or pain relief, fortifying your […]
Aging with Trickster Wisdom
BY LINDA JOY STONE Many of us find beauty in gnarly old trees, amongst overgrown forests and within nature’s oddities, but shudder at the wrinkles, barnacles and deformities human bodies develop with age. The Japanese have a jaunty term—wabi sabi—for the beauty of imperfection. In our rather adolescent culture, imperfection is seen as a flaw. However, striving to achieve some kind of perfection or perpetual youth can rob us of joy. I find the “anti-aging” movement a bit of a con job that feeds a vanity-motivated, death-fearing, multi-billion-dollar industry. Instead, consider “pro-aging my way” as a better description for a natural occurring process, and then choose wisely. Our bodies and our hearts know what to do if we listen and take care of them. Having a good sense of humor is a vital attribute in aging well and being able to appreciate the unpredictability of life. This is where we […]
