“We were made for these times” is a powerful statement and essay by writer/poet, Clarissa Pinkola Estes. For many of us hyper-sensitive observers of the universe who have felt alien in human culture are now being called forth, knowing we are here for these times. I feel that my soul purpose this time around is to witness, if not help birth an evolutionary leap in consciousness now being accelerated by a global pandemic.
I am reminded to not lose heart during these most uncertain and tumultuous times being driven by a fear of sickness and death. It is an age-old fear, or perhaps a cellular memory, of a potential large human die-off. This new plague, Covid-19, that I prefer to call the “luminous light raven” virus (for corona and corvid), is essentially shutting down the world! And maybe what humanity needs right now is a harrowing wake-up call to curtail our consumptive frenzy for more!
It seems so surreal and a valuable lesson in impermanence that life on earth can change overnight! What power, what force! Who shut the world down? The WHO? An owl? A crow? A bat? This historical, life-changing moment can feel like it has been orchestrated by some unseen force. Nature? The “deep-state” Illuminati? Competition for bioweaponry or G5? Maybe we’re dealing with a microscopic alien intervention in order to stop humans from doing any more damage and to help us return to our heart-based unity.
“Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it. If you would help to calm the tumult, this is one of the strongest things you can do.”
Being sequestered to our homes, we can observe and reflect upon our habits, our cravings and our fears. If we can delve deeper into our state of consciousness, we can see who we really are beneath the social landscape we’ve been enculturated in. Many of us will come to understand how privileged we have been to be able to fill our homes, our stomachs and our minds with such abundance! Maybe we can see that we do have enough, we are enough, and there is more than enough for everybody.
Humans vs. Earth—us against other—has now reached the tipping point. We stand at the precipice to be or not to be. We’ve done enough. We are being blessed with a time of stillness, as a healing hush falls upon the world. From this quiet perspective, can we breathe in the suffering of others and breathe out the love that we are to all sentient beings? When the virus fears are behind us, are we willing to stand with Earth—her flora and fauna—and with our brothers and sisters as equals? Let these times be what we were made for, when our souls catch fire and we know why we’re here and what we are needed to do.
